UrbanArt – Graffiti 21 exhibition
World Cultural Heritage Völklinger Hütte shows „UrbanArt – Graffiti 21“, April 17th 2011
Urban Art is rooted in the seventies of the 20th century and is determined by large-sized types and figurative elements sprayed on house walls. Frequently without permission these graffitis cause popular outrage. Meanwhile the artists use canvas for their forms and motives closely attached to graffiti and formed up their way into the galleries and museums. Beside brushes aerosols still remain the artist´s tools.
The World Cultural Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte will open the exhibition “Urban Art – Graffiti 21” from 17thof April 2011 and shows current positions of that new art of the 21th century.
56 works of art created by 36 artists from North America and Europe were chosen for Europe´s largest exhibition of urban art in the World Cultural Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte. For these artists the capitals of the world are source of inspiration: New York, Paris, Berlin, Kopenhagen, São Paulo.
